STANDING FIRM : Shahid Sheikh, of Clifton Packaging, left with Ian Borley, from KPMG
A CATEGORY sponsored by KPMG, Enterprise Through Innovation, went to packaging firm Clifton Packaging Group, of Meridian Business Park. It employs 65 people.
Where many businesses perished because of the low-cost overseas competition. Clifton stood firm and innovated. It found co-operation to be a successful way forward.
India offered lower labour cost and cheaper raw materials, while Clifton had the management skills and experience, technical expertise and marketing know-how.
Managing director Shahid Sheikh said: ‘Winning awards is all about promoting the image and credibility of our company.
Twenty-five years ago, we started with nothing. Today, Clifton is ranked among the best in flexible packaging. “It really is a most welcome morale booster for all our team, who work so hard behind the scenes.”
Rather than admiring its achievements, it is already looking to the future with further innovation.
It is healing what it claims to be the fastest flexographic printing press in western Europe.
